Start Your Own Business

Start Your Own BusinessIf you want to start your own business, this is a great book to read. Get set, go! Entrepreneur Magazine’s Start Your Own Business claims to be “The Only Start-Up Book You’ll Ever Need.”

That sounds mighty boastful, but the author’s credentials are strong, the book loaded with business resources and the information is down-to-earth (Everything you need to start a successful business… except the money, But we’ll show you how to get that, too!”)

Author Rieva Lesonsky and the staff of Entrepreneur Magazine put together the book which starts with “Are you ready to be an entrepreneur?” and goes on to starting versus buying, choosing the name attracting investors, hiring employees, location, loans, image, leasing versus buying equipment, choosing a phone system, learning from failure – all the nitty-gritty stuff, plus some long-term thinking.

Lesonsky, Entrepreneur’s Vice President / Editorial Director, frequently speaks at small-business conferences and appears on TV and radio business programs. — Geneevieve Buck, Chicago Tribune

Government Business Loans Guarantee

Government Business Loans Guarantee

When you’re graduating and suddenly feel overwhelmed by the dark fog of debt it’s time to take control and make the situation more manageable. One way to do that is to consolidate student loans.

When you consolidate multiple loans you are paying off the original amount you took out and obtaining one new source of funding. This allows you to start fresh with new terms and hopefully a lower interest rate.

How you go about this will largely be effected by whether you have private, government, or a mixture of student loans.

For private, or non-federal, funding your interest rate is probably undesirable on a number, if not all, of your loans. The good thing is that while in college you hopefully built up your financial history with credit cards, bills, and steady employment. If this is the case you are in a great consolidation position because you should be offered a lower rate.

If you are working with the federal government there are a number of advantages to consolidate student loans. You already have a low interest rate, but making one monthly payment is definitely one great reason. The government gives you a couple of different options to go with, but one great deal makes it so your payments adjust to your income level, and if you haven’t paid it off in 25 years the loan is forgiven.

If you have a mix of private and federal funding you probably do not want to consolidate them all together. As mentioned above, federal loans have much lower interest rates and the government will not consolidate privately sourced funds with your federal money. If you have multiples of either you will want to handle them separately.

It can be overwhelming to graduate and deal with all of this, but once you take control and figure out how you want to consolidate student loans the whole situation will feel much easier.

New Business Opportunities During Recession

New Business Opportunities During Recession

How have you been faring these past few days? In the midst of all this recession talk, what are you doing?

If I could equate recession into something that would describe it aptly, it would be hardship. Because it truly is, most especially if you could not, would not, and have a hard time adjusting to changes. True, in its meanest sense, recession is an economic downfall; the slowing down of the nation’s economy for six months to a year. Should it get worse and progress to depression, consecutive quarters of poor Gross Domestic Product, the indicator of the overall economic state, (GDP of approximately 18%) control, that I do not want to happen.

Having known the textbook definition of what recession is, let’s see what is recession for you. Seeing what is recession for you and accepting it as a challenge can mean the difference to your life forever. It’s all in the mindset you have. If you think recession is a time of hardships then you will experience hardships. But if you think recession is a chance to uplift your business because everybody is down, then you will fly high gloriously. By knowing what it is for you shows you subconsciously what you are feeling and wishing for. Look deeply into yourself. Only if you know what you truly want would you be able to set that goal as your priority and work towards it. No matter how cliché this must seem, your future is up to you.

The recession effect that we experience now shouldn’t be blamed on anybody. The causes of economic recession are a normal part of the business cycle: weakening stock market, decreasing factory production, increasing interest and unemployment rates and the slumping personal income of the citizens. In time, the economy would bounce up and be as good as new, or even better. The government offers stimulus packages to urge people to buy and sell. If we think about it, recession has been the stimulus that we need. What time is better than now in reorganizing your life and sorting your priorities? Recession has made us see which is important from whose we can live without.

In the middle of this financial slump, people are wagging on and on about jobs recession proof. There is no foil for failure nor for success. There is no certainty to anything. However, think that time is of the essence. For time is our friend. During this recession, we must be the captain of our ships. We mustn’t let that fish that bit the bait drag us along. There are many opportunities in this time of recession. We just haven’t looked into it yet. Doors have closed buy windows have opened. Thus the question, are there really recession proof businesses?

It is not a matter of is there or is there not. It is about gaining, holistically, at this time, what recession all has to offer; making use of the time. It is either being with your company or setting up you own, be it small or not, in a spot you are comfortable at. It is working at home, with the least possible expenses that you can concur, with the least amount of capital you could spend. That what makes up those recession proof businesses that are popping up with a vengeance this season.
